Three Lawyers, Three Leaders: Martin Walker Attorneys Beyond the Courtroom

Martin Walker attorneys don’t just excel in the courtroom—they lead the way in shaping the legal profession. Through leadership roles in prestigious organizations, the firm’s attorneys demonstrate a commitment to preserving the integrity of the justice system, advancing professional standards, and mentoring the next generation of legal advocates.

Name partner Reid Martin serves as a national board representative for the East Texas Chapter of The American Board of Trial Advocates (TEX-ABOTA), whose mission is to preserve the right to trial by jury guaranteed by the 7th Amendment. ABOTA is an invitation-only organization and Mr. Martin also serves as the immediate past president of the East Texas chapter.

Jack Walker is the current President of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), an organization founded in 1949 to defend the rights of Texas families and preserve access to the civil justice system. TTLA focuses on protecting the rights of ordinary citizens and ensuring that trial lawyers have the tools and resources needed to advocate effectively. It also monitors legislative and regulatory changes to safeguard the civil justice system in Texas.

“I think that each lawyer has an obligation to give back to the profession and to the community,” said Mr. Walker. “I’m very proud of our law firm and the work that we do outside of just being lawyers and serving our clients.”

Trial and appellate lawyer Marisa Allen is the 2025 President of the Smith County Bar association, demonstrating the firm’s commitment to local professional organizations. The Smith County Bar Association offers networking programs, continuing education, and community service initiatives to foster collaboration among legal professionals and providing resources to strengthen the practice of law in Smith County.

“Serving in leadership positions allows us to advocate for our clients while also setting an example for professionalism and service within the legal community,” said Mr. Martin. “It’s about showing younger lawyers the importance of integrity, civility, and ongoing development to be the best lawyers they can be.”

Through these leadership roles, Martin Walker attorneys help shape policy, mentor aspiring lawyers and advocate for the preservation of legal rights.
